Mr. Kofi Anan

Secretary general of the United Nations:

On September 18, 1998, Mr. Ahmad Fahimi (Khosrow), the emissary of the Association of Supporters of the Organization of the Iranian People's Fedaii Guerrillas in Paris, was detained by the French government. This action was preceded by the French Foreign Minister, Mr. Vedrine's visit to Tehran and the pursuant political collusion between the French government and the ruling regime in Iran. Ever since his arrest, Mr. Fahimi has been on a hunger strike which is now seriously jeopardizes his life.

Mr. Secretary General:

In order to maintain and enhance its economic interests in Iran, the French government , so far, has sacrificed nine members of the Iranian opposition's leadership who resided in France. The French government has transcended all boundaries and committed numerous transgression against the opposition groups. They now openly apprehend and imprison the political activists and opposition leaders on baseless charges and at times even on the whim of the Islamic Republic's intelligence agents and terrorist elements in France. To better serve the Islamic Republic, the French government is plotting to eliminate the Iranian political activists residing in France. Ahmad Fahimi is one of the victims of this conspiracy. With a heart filled of love for socialism and hatred for the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Fahimi is currently enduring an extreme calamity and hangs between life and death.

Mr. Secretary General:

The United Nations and the world community are silent on the matter of continuous conspiratorial accords between the French government and the Islamic Republic regime. This dormant stance has encouraged the French statesman to inflict an unprecedented and vicious hardship on the Iranian opposition in French. The history of the struggle by the oppressed masses and their gallant sons and daughters, both at the battlefields as well as in prisons, domonstrates the fact that repression cannot annihilate the freedom loving fighters and eradicate the movements.

The ferocious savagery unleashed by the French government against Khosrow has been paralleled in recent decades only by the likes of Pinochet, the Turkish Generals, and Mrs. Thatcher. Two years ago, the French government illustrated its conviction and dedication to principles of democracy by storming the Saint Bernard's church and mounting an assault against a group of defenseless African refugees. This government now conspires to offer Mr. Fahimi as a sacrificial lamb to sustain and safeguard its commercial affairs with the Islamic Republic. Thus, we request that you enunciate a proper and prompt compassion for the life of this freedom loving fighter and political refugee. Through your auspicious intervention, you can prevent the death of this symbol of resistance in the French prison.
